Allison Iraheta, born on April 27, 1992, is one of the finalists of the eighth season of American Idol. Of Salvadorean lineage, she began singing at age 9, and has always dreamt of joining the reality show. However, she was first known as the winner of Quincea?era, a reality talent show that aired on Spanish-language network Telemundo in 2006.

Upon reaching the minimum eligible age, Iraheta joined American Idol through auditions held in San Francisco, California. She eventually made it to the Top 36, after being shown fleetingly in episodes about the previous stages of the competition. She first performed as part of the second batch of semifinalists, and she was overwhelmingly voted to the Top 12, after exhibiting her mature, rock-styled vocals. Judges Randy Jackson and Simon Cowell both tagged her as the “one to watch” in the competition.

However, Iraheta later found herself in the bottom three, during Grand Old Opry week. That week saw fellow competitor Alexis Grace leave the show.
