After making a splash -- or fizzling -- on the Oscar red carpet, several leading ladies traded in their ballgowns for shorter (or in Jennifer Lopez's case, slightly more body-baring) looks at the Vanity Fair after-party. Who upped their style quotient, and whose fashion I.Q. continued to plummet?
We've been a big fan of Diane Kruger's red carpet looks for the risks she takes with color and shape. Here, the red carpet color was blah, and the shape was shapeless. The Chanel looked like a pillar of used Kleenex lassoed with a funeral wreath. At the after-party, she improved matters considerably simply by posing with boyfriend Joshua Jackson, and while the red cocktail sheath certainly showed off her figure, the sheer top and bottom and solid middle didn't really work.
