Jim Carrey has a new place to try out his comic material -- the nursery. The 47-year-old actor is now a grandfather.
Carrey's daughter Jane, 22, gave birth to her first baby -- a son named Jackson Riley Santana -- early Friday morning, according to a media release.
The child was born in an unnamed Los Angeles hospital weighing 7 pounds and 11 ounces.
Besides the first name of "Jackson" the boy will have some serious musical advantages Jane is a singer-songwriter for the alt-rock The Jane Carrey Band and the father is Alex Santana, the lead singer of the metal band Blood Money. The two were married in November.
Carrey has expressed delight about the new development. His website features this tidbit in the biography section.
"He eagerly awaits the next role of his life...Grandpa."
He later twittered a photo of his new grandson. "Jackson Riley Santana, My Grandson, Born today! This is what 7lbs.11oz. of Calfornia dynomite looks like!" he wrote.
