Madonna "Devastated" After Deadly Stage Collapse In France

A stage being built in France for a concert by pop star Madonna has collapsed, killing one worker and injuring six, emergency services say.
A stage being erected for an upcoming Madonna concert collapsed, killing a 53-year-old French man and injuring six, two seriously, according to the BBC and CNN. The accident occurred at the Velodrome in Marseille, France, where Madonna was scheduled to perform on Sunday as part of her Sticky and Sweet tour; the show has been cancelled. "At this point we don't know how it happened, but we are confident no one else is still under the rubble," a French police officer told CNN.

"My prayers go out to those who were injured and their families along with my deepest sympathy to all those affected by this heartbreaking news," Madonna said in a statement issued by her representative, Liz Rosenberg, according to CNN.
