Returns Of Russell Brand As Host 2009 MTV Video Music Awards

The VMA s will back in New York on September 13 at 9 p.m. ET.

It's round two for Russell Brand at this year's VMAs.

"We are thrilled that despite numerous death threats from Jonas Brothers fans, Russell Brand has accepted our offer to put his life on the line and host the VMAs again this year," said Stephen Friedman, GM of MTV today in a press release.

Last year, the "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" star ripped into the teeny-bopping trio, poking fun at their propensity for purity rings.

"This year will be a controversy free festival of love and discrete orgasms," said the British bad boy and comedian.

"We're also excited to be coming home to bring the most rambunctious night in music back to New York City," says Friedman about the show's return to Manhattan, which means it will air from the Big Apple for the 14th time.

Country pop-star Taylor Swift and British rockers Muse will both debut new singles on the award show stage.

Nominees, celebrity presenters and additional performers for the live VMAs will be announced in the coming weeks. The "2009 MTV Video Music Awards" will air Sunday, Sept. 13 at 9 p.m.
